Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness. Her people will be a source of joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard in it no more.” (Isaiah 65:18-19)

Because of the events of the Great Tribulation, the earth will be decimated. Most of the earth’s lands will be gone do to the many plagues and wars of the Tribulation. But Christ will change this at the beginning of His Millennial reign by restoring the earth to how it was before He cursed the ground because of Adam’s sin (Isaiah 32:14-15; 35:1-2).

So how will things look? I’m going to give my best attempt at describing the kingdom and its environment, but of course my words will not even compare to the reality of Christ’s work. As you read the following try and picture the scene in your mind and heart, and just imagine for yourself the greatness of God’s handiwork.

The sun rises across the earth casting shadows across the dark land in large numbers. A new cycle has begun and from this point on for a thousand years, the sun and moon will be literally identical. They will shine upon the earth with a brightness we have never seen before and the dark of night will no longer exist; those in the millennial kingdom will have to get use to sleeping in the light instead of the dark (Isaiah 30:26).

A single drop of rain hits the land causing a reaction that’s almost immediate; suddenly the land comes to life in a great symphony. More rain falls and the roots of all the vegetation in the world dig deep into the soil causing amazing growth. The rain will come and go in abundance, but will never cease to provide the earth and its inhabitants with what it needs to survive. There will be no more droughts or restricted use of water in the earth’s cities. Instead, rain will be plentiful (Isaiah 30:23).

As the rain clears a wolf can be seen in the distance playing happily and enjoying the beginning fruits of Gods blessings. But if you focus your eyes and look closer you will see that the wolf is not playing alone, and further more it is not playing amongst its pack. Instead a small, heavy wool-coated lamb is moving about gingerly with the wolf in perfect harmony and peace. A farmer stands in a field and watches his heard of cows eat greedily at the abundant hay; next to him a large lion sits quietly. The farmer smiles and pats the lion with a hand that is neither shaking nor nervous. The lion has no fear the man will hurt him as he accepts the gently pat on the head. In the millennial kingdom man and animal of all species will co-exist in peace and harmony (Isaiah 65:25).

As the inhabitants of the millennial kingdom will exist with animals peacefully, it should also be known that these people will also lose any desire to eat meat. Animals will no longer be killed and consumed; instead the population of the earth will gain sustenance from the bounty of trees, bushes, and vines we ourselves harvest from the earth. (Isaiah 65:21)

Amazing students, athletes and techies will find that suddenly they have the desire and knowledge to do things they have never done before. They will plant vast acres, tend massive orchards and build houses. All of this knowledge and desire will consume every part of them. (Isaiah 65:18-24)

A group of a thousand meet and praise God in worship with loved ones as well as new acquaintances of all colors and nationalities. They all do so in one language even if some of them can never remember knowing a word of it before (Zephaniah 3:9). That’s right, there will no longer be confusion or interpreters needed. Everyone will speak the same language and be understood.

Christ physically rules over all the earth and everyone sees His glory. He brings about peace and universal justice (Isaiah 11:4) In this one thousand years Christ will see to it that there is no more war and everything and everyone will bow before Him (Revelation 20:7-9; Micah 4:3; Jeremiah 23:5-6).

If you have any questions or comments about this week’s blog, please do so below. Next week we will go further into the differences between the two groups that live in the millennial kingdom.

Some Extra Information:

The millennial kingdom will be a time of great prosperity, and there will be no poor people or people suffering from lack of economic needs (Ezekiel 34:25-30).

An interesting prophecy says that during the millennial kingdom years all nations must travel to Jerusalem once each year to worship the King (Zechariah 14:16-19).

MILLENNIUM-Part One

“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the bottomless pit and a heavy chain in his hand. He seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan—and bound him in chains for a thousand years. The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished.” Revelation 20:1-3

This is the final moment of what will someday be the seven year tribulation. After everything Satan does to destroy the world in only seven years, this is where it ends for him. Well…at least for a long time. But we’ll get to that in the fourth part of our series about Christ’s Millennial Reign.

As you can tell, this series will not focus on the tribulation itself, but instead the one thousand years after it. The bible gives us a lot of information concerning these years and I hope to bring everyone encouragement through this series, as well as maybe some knowledge you did not know. As we get further into this study keep in mind that no matter how amazing things seem, the kingdom Christ rules for a thousand years is not Heaven. It may seem that way, but it’s not.

One of the first questions that came to my mind concerning this topic was, “who will live in the millennial kingdom? Will I get to be part of it?” The Bible tells us in the Old and New Testament just who will be amongst those in the millennial kingdom. In the beginning (after the tribulation) this group of people will meet before Jesus. Now just try and imagine the fact that everyone standing before Jesus at this time is a believer! How do we know this? Because Jesus has already thrown Satan and his followers into the pit so all that can remain are believers. And it will be that in this time Jesus will put those individuals to the right of His throne and announce who they are.

Those that will live in the millennial kingdom will include:

Believers who were apart of the rapture at the beginning of the tribulation.

Believers who died or were martyred during the tribulation.

Those who trusted Christ as their Savior during the tribulation and survived.

And finally, the Old Testament Saints (Daniel 12:2-3, 13, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:21-23, 51-53, Revelation 20:4-6).

These people can really be broken down into two groups; those with glorified bodies and those with earthly bodies who lived through the Tribulation. Because of these differences, both groups will live different lifestyles, and we’ll discuss these differences in part three of the series.

So now that we know just who will enter the millennial kingdom, what kinds of things will they experience? What will the earth’s environment look like? And will everyone speak the same language? Tune in next week, April tenth, as we dig deep into part two of our series.

If you have any questions or comments, leave a comment! :o) I’ll get back with you just as soon as I can.

Some Extra Information:

–In Christ’s reign during the millennial kingdom, David will be resurrected as king and serve under Christ (Jeremiah 30:9, 33:15-17, Ezekiel 34:23-24, 37:24-25, Hosea 3:5).

–The twelve apostles also will have part in the reign of Christ on earth and will judge the twelve tribes of Israel (Matthew 19:28)

millennium

At the end of the seven year tribulation, everyone will see Christ coming. John writes in the first chapter of Revelations that “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him.” Some will feel the breath of the wind as Christ makes His descent onto the surface of the earth. Some will be close enough to see His feet make their first indention’s in the dirt.

He will return to fulfill the prophecies of old.

He will return to banish the devil.

He will return to recreate what is left of the earth.

He will return to start His new Millennium.

Who Is Getting Between You And God?

Who Is Getting Between You And God?

Getting Out Of The Way

Who is getting in the way of your relationship with God?

Everyday there is a moment in my life when I sit in complete silence and think about all I could accomplish for God. In this moment I get a feeling in my chest; a feeling that is exciting, and I am overjoyed at the prospect of being apart of something bigger than myself, something bigger than our small minds can even grasp a hold of. In this moment I feel I have all the answers for why earlier in the day I felt crappy and out of whack. In this moment I finally feel truly unashamed and guilt free about my past. In this moment I realize that God can use me and that I can still proclaim His name with the greatest of authority, passion, and humbleness! But then I close my eyes, and then open them; and in just one second, that once amazing moment is taken away and suddenly I am back to normalcy again.

You’ve been there, right? You’ve been in that moment where suddenly everything seems clear and nothing is held back. You’re the most honest you’ve ever been and you dream as if yesterday never happened.

As I think about all this today, I don’t question why I have this moment of wonder; instead I question why I ever loose it. Is someone else getting in my way? Could it be satan maybe? Sure! But what if it’s not any of those things, what if it’s ourselves we are tripping up? What if for some reason I am sabotaging myself and everything God wants to do through me!

Why would we do this? Yes, that is a very good question, and can have so many answers. But here’s my initial thoughts…

  • We are scared. We’re totally afraid of what might happen if we put ourselves out there for God.We so badly want to please God, but we also don’t want to step on toes or get out of our comfort zones even a little bit.
  • We are lazy.We would all be lying if we didn’t admit to this one.Sometimes what keeps us away from God is our inability to say, “No” to our worldly desires. Turn off the television, stop listening to the music for awhile, step away from the computer, and get into God’s Word; allow yourself to experience some silence in your life and hear what God has to say.
  • Instead of fearing to fail God, we worry more about what others will think if we stand up. In turn meaning we fear more about what other people think about us, than what God desires for our life.

I’ve had some ask me about my current header on my blog, and what “Do not be afraid,” means. And it is really something I say to myself everyday as I strive to get closer to God. I want to be brave enough to stand up for God and not let my own fears and selfishness get in the way. Because the truth is, I find that I get in the way with my relationship with God, more than anything else.

    Do not be afraid…

I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. “When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.”When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”

Album Review: Seventh Day Slumber “Take Everything”

Posted in Music on March 12, 2009 by jeremywalker

    New Worship Album

    Seventh Day Slumber  “Take Everything”

Worship album oh worship album, how much longer will you be tolerated?

I’ve listened to Seventh Day Slumbers new release four times now, and while I enjoy it very much, I wonder how well it will be received by others. Worship albums (amongst a few other things) have become an epidemic in Christian Music, and while the sincerity is evident in most of these albums the real problem resides in originality. One of the most satisfying experiences of listening to a new Chris Tomlin or David Crowder Band Album is the fact that it’s new and original to the artist!

While “Take Everything” is lyrically awesome and musically comparable to most pop and rock bands, most of the songs themselves have already been played over and over on radio; thus making the album catchy, but not memorable. Another disappointment was going into a Seventh Day Slumber album I was hoping to rock out a little, and while there are songs such as “How Great Is Our God,” and “Mighty To Save,” that peaked my ear, most of the songs on the album were much like the original versions with louder guitars.

Now there are some bright spots with this album. The two original songs, “Take Everything,” and “Carry Me” both resonate the themes of surrender and release, and are sure to be heard on radio and in churches. The two standout songs on the album are “Surrender” and “From The Inside Out.” Both songs capture the bands true sound, and feature the awesome growl of lead singer Joseph Rojas that we all know and love. I should also mention that this collection of songs performed live would absolutely translate different than what you get on the album.

So if you’re into worship songs old and new, you’ll love this album. But if you’re kind of getting annoyed with worship albums that sound the same, then you might consider just downloading your favorite songs of this album from ITunes.

    Track Listing:

    1. How Great Is Our God
    2. Surrender
    3. Lead Me To The Cross
    4. Everlasting God
    5. Mighty To Save
    6. From The Inside Out
    7. I Can Only Imagine
    8. Take Everything
    9. Carry Me
    10. Famous One
    11. Nothing But The Blood
    12. Oceans From The Rain

    Keep Digging Abby…

Posted in Life on January 19, 2009 by jeremywalker

Tonight as Elizabeth and I were putting the girls down to bed we were able to engage in some amazing conversation with Abby. I’ve always been amazed at how much information a child can retain, and while sometimes this can come back to haunt you :o)…tonight was very refreshing.

I’ll admit, while it’s always fun to listen to all the girls talk; Abby just has a way of putting herself completely into what she’s saying which in turn makes her conversation truly unique. And tonight as she told us about Jesus and all that he had done because, “He watches all of us, and g-lobes (Abby’s cute way of saying ‘loves’) everyone in the whole world!” I could not help but be taken by her completely. While some of what she was saying was funny, like, “my daddy said that Jesus laid on hay in a box, with a cloth wrapped around Him so the hay wasn’t so poky on Jesus.” There were other things that she said that I couldn’t help but be a little choked up over, like when she was praying and she said, “God, thank you for Jesus who died on the cross so now everyone loves Jesus.”

Her honesty and assertiveness was amazing, she is being taught these things about God, and it’s so awesome to hear her share what she’s learned. It’s even more awesome to watch the wheels turn in her head as you explain things to her. We talked about how big God is, and I told her that, “God is so big that He is in this room with us, but He’s also in the next room with Emma and Maggie.” She gave me a curious look and said, “What? God is with Emma, and He’s in here with us, are you serious?” And just to let you know, she really asked that, I”m not making that up! :o) She then said, “God’s not in here, I can’t see Him anywhere.” So Elizabeth told her, “You can’t see God, but He’s still in here with us.” The wheels really started turning then, but quickly she went on to another conversation, and never questioned what she had been told….what faith!

I’m not sure why I decided to share this experience, except to say that God is still here. This life is so crazy and we all get caught up in it. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that God is right next to us in the same room….and if he can teach and speak through little Abby, well, I’m sure He’s big enough to do the same for us. And just like Abby is so excited to learn and speak of Jesus, it should be our only desire to consume and express the same things…..keep digging Abby…..keep digging….

    Christian Horror ???

Posted in Movies on October 6, 2008 by jeremywalker

When I was probably fourteen or fifteen I read a book called, “The Stand,” by Stephen King.  Now I’ll admit, I picked up the book with the hope that it would scare me…I don’t really know why, but watching a scary movie or reading a scary book has always appealed to me.  I enjoy something that makes your spine tingle, your palms sweat, your heart race, and something that totally catches you off guard.  And while most “scary” or “horror” movies and books are all the same, some catch you by surprise…and that’s what Stephen King did in his book, “The Stand.”  You might go into a book like that with this notion that it will be scary mixed in with blood, guts, gore, sex, violence and so much more that would make your skin crawl….and I’ll be honest, the book has all of that and much more.  But where Mr. King surprised me was in the fact that just scaring people was not good enough….he had to tell a story!  He needed to get you up close and personal with the characters, so that you could identify with their dilemmas and feel their pain when things started to go crazy.  He connected me with each and every character he introduced, and I consumed the 1,000 plus page book in a matter of days.  From there I read many more of his books, and was amazed at the writing and how good it was…..and it was upon reading a book by Stephen King called, “The Green Mile,” about a death row inmate with supernatural powers that I began to wonder….how cool would it be if you went to your local bookstore, and found a book like this in the “Christian Book” section?  That would be insane!  But what would you call the genre, “Christian Horror”?  That doesn’t make sense at all!

Ted Dekker (left) Frank Peretti (right)

Ted Dekker (left) Frank Peretti (right)

But it was this question that drove me to see if such a thing existed, and to my surprise….it did.  Now the genre wasn’t called “Christian Horror,” but the books themselves dealt with scary and horrific things like demons and monsters and many other things that go bump in the night, but the only author that really captured me was Frank Peretti.  The man creates a world in his books that you can’t even imagine.  Most of his books are about ordinary people surrounded by a world they can’t see….a world where angels and demons fight constantly and each individual’s fall into evils hands is always right around the corner, but Peretti was able to accomplish what Stephen King can not….Peretti was able to always shine the light of Christ in all his books, and I was amazed at the twists and turns and amazement of his stories…Peretti put this new genre on the map, and created a revolution in the “Christian” book market that is more popular today than ever before.  But even after this amazing discovery, I still was left wondering….is it possible to take things even further?  Would a “Christian” market ever go for stories with insanely dark themes, much darker than Peretti had ever written about?

My answer came courtesy of a man named Ted Dekker.  To say that Ted Dekker has caused a stir in the Christian community is a huge UNDERSTATEMENT.   If you’ve never heard of Ted Dekker, just know that his books have been critisized by the Christian community for years as being hurtful to Christians…and not encouriging in the least.  You see, Ted Dekker didn’t just bring evil stories to the Christian populace…he made evil, mean….nasty…unmerciful….ruthless…dark…murderous….and unafraid.  Up to this point, many books written in this new genre only hinted at the ways of the devil…and in that I mean, it played Satin as an ELEMENT in the story, instead of a character.  In all the stories before, satan had influence, but very little power…and while evil wanted to curropt and have power, you never really knew what the point was to all of it.

But Dekker changed all that, he introduced evil in his stories as a character, and not just a character that wanted to make you stumble and trip up in your “spiritual” walk with God….no instead, Dekker introduced an evil that wanted to literally take the life from your body….and really, that’s just a nice way of saying the evil in Dekker’s books wants to rip your heart out and squeeze it in its hands.  It seems to me, that Dekker wanted people to know, that evil has a purpose, it has a point….it doesn’t want you close to God…but it doesn’t want you alive either…evil wants you dead….it HATES you, and it’s always trying to find ways to hurt you physically, as well as spiritually.  It could have turned on Dekker easily, but instead, he is one of the most best selling Christian novelist to date, and not because of the contriversy his books bring out…but because Dekker is honest about what he does.  He doesn’t write to scare people or to prove a point…he writes what he does so people know that evil is out there, and it’s so much more dangerous than we think or can even imagine.  And it’s in these dark stories that the light is seen more clearely.”

“It’s critical as a storyteller, as anybody who’s interested in impacting culture, [that] you must speak the language of the culture you wish to impact.” Dekker once said in an interview with the 700 club.   “When I sit down to write a novel, I am exploring my own relationship with God, with the struggle between good and evil, my own purpose. My journey is so similar to everyone else’s journey, because we all are human. We all have been defeated by the powers of darkness, and we all find redemption in the light of Christ.”

And when asked why it is important for him to show evil as it is, he said, “It’s critical that we use a very dark brush to paint evil,” Ted explains. “When you bring the light into that darkness as characterized in John 1, that light is very vivid. When it dispels the darkness, we see the brilliance that’s there.”

So now to the point of this blog, and I’m sorry for the length, but this has become an important topic for me as I have found myself squashing my own story ideas because of how they might be perceived by Christians.  Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti teamed up a few years ago and wrote the book, “House”.  I haven’t had the chance to read this book yet, but I’ve heard over and over it’s the scariest book you’ll ever read in a “Christian” book store.  Too my surprise, about a year ago, I read in an online magazine that said “House” was being adapted into a movie!  And yesterday, I finally got to preview the chilling trailer to the movie.  But what will probably surprise you most, is that this “Christian” film, has been given a rating of “R”.  If you go to teddekker.com you’ll find in Ted’s blog that he says, the film is not really all that terryfing…there’s no blood or gore, no sex or language except for the word “hell” one time.  And Dekker also talks about the Pentagram on the movie poster that LionsGate (the company producing the film) created to promote the film.

Now I must say, I was kinda stunned when I saw the movie poster yesterday…I mean, what are the odds that a “Christian” film would have the very sign that represents the thing we’re daily fighting at it’s forefront of a movie poster.  But then I realized, this movie is not being produced by a “Christian” company.  LionsGate, is"House" is set to release in November not Fox Faith Corporation, and in fact, LionsGate has produced crazy horror movies like SAW and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!  If anything, this film is not being promoted as a “Christian” film at all…but instead as your everyday, crazy horror film.  I’ve thought about this a lot since yesterday, and I think I’ve finally come to a conclusion.

If this film was to be promoted as a “Christian” film…how many lives would be changed by watching it?  Would it even make a difference?  Or would it cause even more controversy?  I mean, we already know that there’s not many churches out there that are going to promote an “R” rated film….except for “The Passion of The Christ,” maybe.  So when you look at it that way, this may be a better avenue for the film…potentially, some lives could be changed by its message.  I know many out there would think that the message will get overshadowed by the scary themes…. but I’m not so sure.  We live in a culture that pays billions of dollars a year to be scared in a movie theater; billions of dollars!  Isn’t it possible that this film could make a difference….maybe show something to someone a little deeper than a tingle of arenaline.  I defenatley think it’s possible….but i’m curious what you think about it…is the movie poster too much for this movie…..the pentegram to me represents the evil the characters are fighting….but being that this book was written by two Christians, and claims to reveal the light of Christ….is it too much?

Let me know what you think, leave a comment below, and check back to see what someone else might think about it.  This may seem like a waste of time…but trust me, Christian writers are penning more movies out there than you think…do some research and you’ll find out….this won’t be the last time this topic comes up.

Oh yeah, if you want to see the trailer for the movie, go here, http://www.housethemovie.net

I’ll warn you though, while you’ll see no blood or anything like that…it is really intense, and in my opinion, probably the intensity is what got the movie an “R” rating.  Dont forget to leave comments telling your thoughts!

    A Little Catch-up…

Posted in Life on September 26, 2008 by jeremywalker

It’s been awhile since my last blog, so wow, where to begin.

My kids always seem to want to send me to an early grave; causing me to worry and panic about their health seems to be something they like to do.

    Hannah Claire Walker

    Hannah Claire Walker

A little over a week ago, Hannah started limping on her leg and almost dragging her foot.  Crystal and I both thought it might be a strain of some sort, so we took her to the doctor and he took some xrays.  The first set seemed to show some kind of fracture behind the knee cap.  Of course we freaked out…the word, “fracture” is pretty disturbing, especially in connection with a two year old. The doctor decided to xray the other knee and found nothing there.  He let an orthopedic doctor look at the first xrays and he found nothing serious at all, and advised us to give Hannah Motrin for the next couple of weeks to help with any swelling she might have around the knee.  He ultimatley thought what we thought in the beginning…that Hannah had strained or pulled a muscle…so that was a huge relief!  And I totally believe God worked a miracle on this one!  And in case you were wondering, this being the second (almost) health scare with one of my kids, well; I do think I’m seeing some grey hairs in my head :o)

Elizabeth and I have been attending Beltway Park Baptist Church here of late.  We really love the preaching and the opportunities for service the church provides.  But for now we’re just taking things slow and letting things sink in.  It’s been awhile for both of us since we’ve really dived into God’s Word and taken it in….it’s so powerful and full of energy, as well as exciting and amazing….but it’s also scary and racks at your nerves a little.  It’s strange, but sometimes opening yourself up to God is like putting a quarter into a gumball machine; you never know what color or flavor you might get, but you’re always certain you’re going to get gum!  I don’t know if you guys know what I’m talking about…but I guess what I’m trying to say is, God is always there and that will never change; and God will always have a will and purpose for all of us, and that as well will never change…but when you finally figure out what His will is; it’s almost more nerve racking than all the worrying you did before!  God wants us to do amazing things for Him, and my worries of failing Him eat at me constantly, but I know somewhere in me there is strength…and that same strength lives in you as well!

Finally, I have been able to resign from my mall job at the Sunglass Hut.

    I Love My Family!

    I Love My Family!

I was there for two years, and while it tested my patience at times…it did connect me with people…and I have to tell you, I met and talked with hundreds of new people.  Not all of the conversation was deep or carried any substance obviously, but I still got to brush up and learn how to talk to people again, and in more than just a casual way.  And in the end, that’s what I love, is to get to know people and find out what their about and what they think!  It’s awesome!  It was time to move on though, the District offered me more hours, better pay, and a chance to spend more time with my family; so I knew it was the right thing to do.  Where one door closes another opens, right? :o)

Alright, I’ve got to end here.  More blogs to come!

Delirious, The End Of An Era…

Posted in Music on August 15, 2008 by jeremywalker

I still remember being at the Family Christian Store and picking up an album called “Glo,” by this band named Delirious.  I had heard of them in passing from one of my friends, so I decided to buy the album and give it a try.  I quickly was taken into a world that I can only describe as intoxicating.  The music itself was upbeat and catchy.  But the lyrics took me in so fast that I remember getting home and immediately opening the cd jacket to read them on paper.  While “Glo” was not their most popular album, make no mistake, Delirious has brought the praise and worship we so enjoy today.  Not only did they bring it, they created it!  You could say, that they were (and are) the pioneers for modern day praise and worship.

    Delirious Says Farewell

While creating many hits they also brought us songs that we might not have known they brought us because other, more popular artists, sang the songs themselves.  And it’s these songs that we sing most every Sunday in church, as well as many other songs they have written.  Their hits include, “Deeper,” “History Maker,” “Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble,” “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever,” “Obsession,” “Shout To The North,” “The Happy Song,” “Jesus Blood,” “Every Little Thing,” “Free,” “Majesty,” “Rain Down,” “My Glorious,” “Trading My Sorrows,” and “Open The Eyes Of My Heart.”

So after 15 years together and 14 albums, Delirious has decided to take a break from the music scene.  To call them a great band is an understatement.  These guys were at the top of their game their whole career, and they never slowed down.  They reached out to crowds that filled football stadiums and dirt poor villages throughout Africa.  Their music has continually been original and and polished while their lyrics held the depths to bring you to the very throne of God.  Delirious has changed the landscape of worship music and given many young artist hope that longevity in music is truly possible.

I leave you with a few lyrics from my favorite Delirious song called, “Every Little Thing.”

    There’s no-one else to blame
I live my life between the fire and the flame
I’ve built my house where the ocean meets the land
It’s time to live again, pull my dreams out of the sand
Let your world be full of color
I will carry you, if you carry me

    Thank you guys!

    Where Your Heart Is

Posted in Lessons from Gods Word on August 13, 2008 by jeremywalker

It’s not so hard anymore to find out where a persons heart is. Sure, there’s many things an individual can keep to themselves and never tell a soul, I’m sure we all have something we don’t want others to know. But when you think about it, we live in a society and culture that demands to be raw and exposed. People have become brave and reveal more of themselves everyday, either through words or actions. And if someone is not talking or showing you anything, well; you can always look at their myspace or facebook or blog to see where their heart is. So with all we try to do to be open with others and the world, I’m left wondering…why do we try so hard to hide things from God?

We can write songs, poems, even make cool pictures and graphics illustrating our joys, pains, loves, and fears; all for the world to see…but we still find it most difficult to open ourselves up to the Lord. I do these same things, and I find it hard to understand my actions sometimes…what am I really trying to hide?

I should know, we all should know, that we stand before God completely visible and naked. He sees everything we’ve done and everything we are going to do. He knows our past and future, our relationships that went bad and the relationships we will never give the light of day. He sees the people we love and also the people we hate. He sees the things we refuse to let go of and the people we choose not to forgive. He sees us crying late in the night and passionately worshiping him Sunday morning.

We spend so much time trying to cover ourselves up that we forget to realize that no matter how much we put onto ourselves God’s Holiness burns through it all in an instant. We cannot hide from the light, we aren’t capable of it….at some point, we will stand before Him. You may think this is unfair of God or even intrusive. But understand that God loves you more than you could ever imagine. We may be sinners and unrighteous to the bone; but man, God still loves the heck out of us. We have no reason to hide, and we have no excuse to be bitter and angry at the things going on in our lives; we will find no peace in all that.

It shouldn’t be your desire to open your life up to the world in order to feel better, instead, it should be your desire to hold intimate communion with God in order to find peace and rest and purpose. Life is not always grand, I understand that; believe me I do. But give yourself a chance to be better and find what your looking for by understanding that God wants what is best for us, and He created us so that we would find joy in Him. Don’t be afraid…..just let go….

“”Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28
